Do DPF Delete Kits Improve Fuel Mileage and Engine Performance?

The use of diesel particulate filters of DPF was given a boost with the introduction of the Euro Emissions standards which sets a reduction of vehicle soot emissions by at least 80%. A wall flow type of DPF, also called “traps,” catches between 85 and 100% of the soot in the exhaust, leaving you a very clear fume. Unfortunately, this can also hinder the vehicle’s performance and mileage. A DPF delete kit can address this issue by removing the DPF, thus improving fuel efficiency and the performance of the engine power. Only off-road diesel-powered trucks are allowed by law to install these kits, and in-highway diesel trucks are still prohibited to install the device.

The kit works by? The 6.4 DPF delete works just like any filter, such as the bag in your vacuum cleaner, for example, working to trap dirt and soot from the air of the exhaust into the filter. This filter must be cleaned out to maintain the performance of the engine. A process called “regeneration,” diesel particulates are consumed at very high temperature to leave ash residue in the filter. However, despite the fact that DPF and catalytic converters can scrub away emissions, the process somehow invites a phenomenon called back-pressure, which is a result of the restriction of the flow of the gases out the exhaust as it leaves the combustion chamber. The system will force the gas to enter into the exhaust stack and be emitted through the tail pipe. The restriction of flow is often thought to be caused by DPF, as well as by catalytic converters, mufflers, and bends in the pipe.

The increasing back-pressure makes the engine to exert more effort in releasing the used gases. As you increase the workload of your engine, the power delivered to the movement of the wheel is compromised as more fuel is injected to the engine. These combined factors reduce the performance of the engine. Because the DPF Delete kits eliminates DPF, backpressure on the engine is reduced which gives your vehicle better performance and more mileage for your fuel.

Some independent tests run on engines after applying the DPF delete kits report a 26 to 47 percent increase in fuel mileage. While it’s true that emissions cleaners like DPF hampers the flow of the exhaust gas flow, it’s also true that free flow in big trucks is already built into the vehicle’s system. The flash device incorporated in the kit will reprogram the truck’s onboard computer to increase the fuel efficiency of the vehicle and its overall performance. Thus, it would be safe to say that the DPF delete kit enhances overall performance by addressing these issues including the issue of back-pressure.

Off road diesel trucks will greatly benefit from DPF Delete Kits as it enhances engine power and boost fuel efficiency.

Don’t Buy Your Own Vans, Get New Ones By Leasing

If you own a business that requires delivering goods to your customers, when it comes to buying new delivery vans, you may have to hope that you have enough. Especially during the current global recession, it is becoming ever more difficult for businesses to stay afloat.

So, there you are thinking, I need new vans to keep my business going, but I don’t have enough for the ones I want, there must be a way. Well, there is another way, a way for you to get brand new vans at a reduce price. van contract hire is a great way for you or your business to get the latest vehicles to deliver your goods all for a monthly fee.

All you have to do is sign a contract for the van and just pay the monthly fees, and once your contract is over, if you renew it, you can get another brand new van. You can even get bundles where the van maintence is covered, giving you one less thing to worry about.

You may be wondering what the catch is? But there isn’t one. Van leasing is simply a great way to get the latest vans, at reduced cost. Also, because they are the newest models, they are far less likely to break down. As well as that, when you buy a new car or van, they can quickly loose all their value, making you lose out when you have to sell them on, but with leasing, you have no problem with that because once your contract is over, you just give the car back.

Overall, it has to be the best way to get the newest and best vans for your business, especially now when times are tight. So, what are you waiting for, there are some great Vauxhall van leasing, Ford, Nissan and Mercedes van leasing offers out there.

Scooters

Scooters are popular in cities and towns for traveling or commuting whether they are Tank scooters or Retro scooters.
Scooters are a smaller version of the motorcycle but with some special individual features such as an integrated platform for the driver’s feet, footrests and a special step-through. Motorcycles are heavier and normally have larger wheels. Plus, scooters are a lot cheaper and easier to use as compared to cars and motorcycles. These are lots of other reasons that have led to the extensive use of scooters in crowded urban areas where public transport and driving are a nightmare because of the traffic.

The first scooters were invented before World War I and they were part of the first motorcycle lines such as Lambretta and Vespa. In fact these models made the history of the vehicles we have today, and the first real progress became obvious during World War II when Lambretta and Vespa increased their popularity. Small wheels, level floorboards and reduced storage space were the features of these early scooters. The continuously variable transmissions were introduced in later years, and the four-stroke engines replaced the two-stroke gearbox unit.

Personal transportation has always been the main purpose of scooters, and a cylinder capacity between 50cc and 250cc is suitable for the purpose. There are producers that manufacture larger scooters with more powerful engines than these traditional categories, but they are not as popular as the small versions. Moreover it is very advantageous to use scooters because of the traffic conditions and the rest of the legal obligations they involve. Just think of licensing, registration and insurance: the regulations corresponding to scooters are a lot more advantageous than for cars.

For many Europeans and Asians, scooters are the most popular urban means of transportation because the low costs, the comfortable sitting position and the time saving are remarkable. In fact, while the sales of automobiles have decreased, those for scooters have gone up. This is explained by the fact that scooters involve a smaller investment than the amount needed for a car.

Besides the navigation through heavy traffic, scooters have another great quality: they require a smaller fuel consume as compared to a car, and they are considered more environment-friendly than other vehicles. Manufacturers have also designed hybrid scooters that work both on gas and on batteries, and in the coming years a powerful electric design is expected for release. The green alternative is a bit more expensive, but the costs are still low if we make a parallel with hybrid cars for instance.

The Motorcycle Gear Every Biker Needs

helmets

Owning and riding a motorcycle has become one of the most popular hobbies of people all across not only the United States but also all over the world too. The items that should be purchased by a responsible motorcycle owner include an insurance policy, eye protection, a full face guard, long pants, boots, driving gloves, goggles, a helmet and other items. Not every state in the country has laws governing the use of a motorcycle helmet but some of them do require that all motorcycle operators and riders wear helmets when on a motorcycle.

Motorcycle helmets, such as motocross helmets and BMX helmets, can be purchased at stores such as the ones owned and operated by the Harley Davidson company. Fiberglass is used to make some helmets these days while other ones are carbon fiber helmets.

The replacement of the motorcycle’s tires after wear and tear is one aspect of maintenance that needs to be performed along with filling the gas tank, changing the oil, and having the bike inspected. Icon gear is one of the most popular categories of motorcycle gear available for purchase on the market today. Biker jackets, patches, gloves, boots and other items are just some of the things that fall into the category of icon gear. Extra equipment that can be purchased for a motorcycle include luggage, a bike stand, battery chargers, motorcycle covers, bike exhausts, tie downs and other items. Some motorcycles come equipped with storage compartments for the biker to store his or her wallet, insurance card, cell phone and other items while riding on the bike. If the motorcycle does not come with these side compartments the biker can purchase them on the Internet or at Harley Davidson stores across the country. Finding a motorcycle accessory shop near where the biker lives isn’t hard to do. Just type in what accessory the biker needs in a search engine and begin looking through the results. If a biker does not wear a full face mask on their helmet then they should purchase goggles or driving sunglasses to protect their eyes from road debris when riding their bike. Being shaded from the sun helps ensure the driver of his or her safety when riding a motorcycle.

Each State’s Motorcycle Helmet Laws

Skull Cap

When riding a motorcycle, bikers should wear their motorcycle helmets even if they are not required by law in their state. The original motorcycle helmets used by the first bikers were made of leather, when motorcycles were introduced in the early 20th century. These helmets were made solely of leather and had two ear straps, just like the helmets worn by football player in the early days of the NFL. Helmets are now made with fiberglass or are carbon fiber helmets, which are tougher to crack and protects the head of the biker more than leather.

Each state of the 50 in the Union have different motorcycle laws covering a variety of different topics and bikers should be wary of those laws when traveling across country. Motorcycle gear and helmets are not enforced by law in all 50 states of the country nor are they covered by the same laws. Bikers should also know the laws regarding motorcycles for the states that surround the one that they live in incase they decide to travel across state lines to go to work or to a ballgame.

The various helmet laws include whether or not they are required for every rider, for riders of a certain age, or not required at all. Some motorcyclists will also be required to wear eye protection, use daytime headlights, share lanes on the roads, get yearly inspections, what maximum speed to operate the vehicle at and various levels of intoxication for bikers. Each state also has laws covering the use of headphones and the playing of music while operating a motorcycle.

The United States boasts one of the most successful and popular motorcycle manufacturing companies in Harley Davidson. The company survived the Great Depression and has been in existence since the 1900s. Some state’s laws also require motorcyclists to wear full face helmets to protect their eyes and the rest of their face from debris flying up from cars in front of them. Other vehicles ricochet debris into the eyes and face of the bikers but they can be protected by full face  guards in some state’s laws. People that operate or ride on motorcycles in some states in the Union do not have any laws at all to follow when it comes to wearing helmets. The three states without helmet laws are Illinois, Iowa, and New Hampshire.

Choosing A Disney Mp3 Player For A Young Child

Let’s assume that your child, he/she is between the ages of 6 and 10, wants an mp3 player for his/her birthday.  Being the good parent you are, you drive to the nearest electronics store searching for an mp3 player that your daughter/son may want.  Once you start looking at the mp3 players, you realize that there is no hope left in the world because each one is so expensive.  It is an instance such as this that has allowed manufacturers to market mp3 players to the children of the world.  That is why Disney has come out with an mp3 player geared for this age group.

Why Get A Disney Mp3 Player?

For one thing, a Disney mp3 player will be cheaper than the leading brands of portable music devices.  These act as a starter for children who want to someday get a bigger mp3 player such as an Ipod or Creative.  If a preteen wants to get an mp3 player, it would be wise to go this route because it will allow the child to see if he/she truly wants a bigger and better mp3 player down the road.  Buying the Disney mp3 player (also called a Disney Mix Stick) can save many parents headaches from spending too much money.

The Disney mp3 player will also teach the child or preteen how to correctly work an mp3 player and upload music onto it.This music device allows one to upload music from one’s computer or CDs by using a USB connection.  Disney has also unveiled something called the Mix Clip memory cards.  These act much like a CD (and cost about the same as one too) and are loaded with pre-recorded Disney music that can be uploaded onto the mp3 player.

The Disney mp3 player has a storage capacity of 128MB.That means that the Mix Stick device can hold about 60 songs.  You can also additional memory, meaning that this mp3 player will hold around 500 songs.

If you are a parent looking to buy a portable music device for a child but do not want to spend an exorbitant amount of money, look no further than the Disney mp3 player.  It holds more than enough music and will teach the child or preteen the correct way to upload music onto an mp3 player.  It was smart of Disney to market a device like this to a smaller age group and it would be smart of you to buy this for your child if he/she wants an mp3 player.

Five Different Areas of Gas Mileage Improvement

Everyone wants better gas mileage and the savings that go with it, but not very many people actually understand how to make that happen in their own worlds. So they focus on this area or that process, without ever truly realizing that a good gas mileage improvement plan has five different facets to it, or spokes of a wheel, if you will. Sure, focusing on just one aspect of the equation at a time will usually get you some results, but it’s not until you address all five aspects of the equation together that much higher gains in gas mileage are realized. Let’s take a more in depth look at each of these parts of the puzzle briefly.

1. The Driver Factor in the Equation. Believe it or not, the driving style a car is driven will noticeably impact the vehicle’s gas mileage. City driving always chews into mileage more than highway driving. Jack rabbit starts, and stopping on a dime too, both cut into your mileage in bad ways. But simply driving at or near the speed limit, choosing a route with the least number of stoplights along it, coasting to a stop at each intersection, and not launching your vehicle off the starting line when the light changes, all these will help improve your gas mileage in noticeable ways.

2. The Car Itself. Are your engine’s systems tuned up correctly? Are the tires inflated to the correct pressure? Is the engine oil good? Are you giving your car good maintenance? Are you keeping up with your vehicle’s paint job? Good maintenance is one of the easiest ways to improve your mileage back to near (or better than) factory specifications.

  3. What goes Into The Engine. Good fuel gets better mileage than bad fuel. And contaminated fuel doesn’t just lower your mileage; it can also cost you in repairs. Modifying the engine’s fuel to burn better than simple gasoline does, and buying high quality gas to start with, both are great ways to get better gas mileage.

4. The Air Your Engine Breathes. Believe it or not, there are also things you can do to tweak the air stream going into your engine that will help things, and thus, its gas mileage too. Cool air contains a higher Oxygen content in it than hot air does, and expands more when heated inside the engine. Humid air also absorbs more heat than dry air does, and thus expands more too inside each cylinder (meaning better efficiency and power). Clean air burns the gasoline in your engine more efficiently than dusty or smoggy air does. Pressurized air contains more Oxygen atoms and molecules in it than straight air. But you get the picture.

  5. The Exhaust. There are even ways that you can modify your exhaust system to help your vehicle get better mileage. You can do things like install oversized pipes in your exhaust system, put in an oversize catalytic converter and muffler, put in a tailpipe turbocharger, or even recycle the extra heat coming off the exhaust system, all to improve your mileage and emissions.

By focusing our efforts in a “whole-car approach” way, and addressing all five aspects of the equation simultaneously in our quest to get better gas mileage, we can significantly improve the mileage of almost any sized combustion-based engine that we touch.

If you really want to dig into and truly understand all five aspects of the ‘improving gas mileage’ equation, and the ways to tweak each, get the indepth ebook “Over 50 Ways to Get Better Gas Mileage” available at http://www.HowToGetBetterGasMileage.com, as compiled by http://www.EvergreenGasLabs.com.

How To Search For The GPS Deal

GPS navigation and GPS receiver every time saves time in driving, that is the reason many people are searching for quality GPS navigation product.
In the age of technology, asking for directions seems like history thanks to the invention of the GPS mobile receivers. People know try to shop wisely and get a good GPS deal to benefit from an individual mobility unit. The best idea to get a GPS deal is to find some GPS coupons, which, although valid for a limited period of time, could save you quite a lot of money. Normally, you should hunt for sales in manufacturers like TomTom, Magellan, Maestro or Garmin.

We can also call it a good GPS deal when for an average price you get the GPS unit and some accessories. Windshield and dash mount, cables, wrist straps, belt clips, weatherproof coverings, spare batteries and data cards are the most wanted items. The thing is that the need for accessories varies from person to person, and is greatly influenced by the activity for which you purchase the GPS device. If you need the receiver for outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, spare batteries and the waterproof design are vital. It is therefore normal to try and make a GPS deal that corresponds to the usage specificity.

Data cards are a must for the use of the GPS receiver; these devices are the storage location for all the maps and the information specific to the region or country you choose. A great GPS deal is when you get blank memory cards together with the device so that you can decide which maps to upload. The difference between GPS units can be very high, and so are the user’s needs: therefore, if some people prefer blank memory cards, others would like pre-installed ones so that they don’t have to trouble about downloading software and maps.

The car power adapter and the batteries mentioned above are very important for a good purchase too. Antenna kits could also prove priceless in areas where the satellite connection gets discontinued. Therefore, you’ll make a good GPS deal even when you pay for an antenna kit because you’ll be covered for the unpredicted.

What Are the Signs of Gingivitis?

ozone water

Gingivitis can lead to gum disease and worse if you don’t get it taken care of. So what is it and how will you be able to tell if you have it or not?

If you notice when you brush or floss that your gums start to bleed, you may have the onset of gingivitis or worse. Other signs you will notice are swelling of the gums, red gums, puffiness, and even tender gums. These are all signs that can point towards your having gingivitis. Sometimes, an oral irrigator may be of help.

removal of plaque is very important to combat gum disease. As the plaque continues to build up after a while it will become hard. At that point it will be called either tartar or calculus. That’s when you will start to run into more problems. The tartar will harbor ever greater amounts of bacteria that will begin to destroy your gums.

This process will lead to your gums bleeding and even pulling away from your teeth. It’s the next step after gingivitis and it is called periodontitis. As the gums continue to weaken, there will be pockets that will form near the base of your teeth.

At those pockets bacteria will build up which will lead to even more destruction of your gum tissue. It may continue to spread and even get to the point of causing more health problems besides the loss of teeth. Ozone water has been used for many purposes, perhaps it can be of some assistance to you.

Make sure that you see your dentist as soon as you notice any signs of gingivitis. One is bleeding of your gums when you are brushing or flossing your teeth. If your gums start looking too reddish, no longer the healthy pink look that gums should have, you may have a problem.

Next, learn about the cost effective things you can do at home to help stop gum disease and prevent it from coming back again.

Used MINI For All

In terms of legacy, reputation and cult appeal, there are few more popular cars than that of the MINI. Ever since the film ‘The Italian Job’ starring Michael Caine and Noel Coward proved to be an enormous hit with moviegoers everywhere, the MINI’s popularity has grown and grown at a truly remarkable rate. However, the popularity of this small, user friendly car was put at risk when the MINI was acquired by BMW and the design changed irrevocably. The purist MINI fans were obviously not very pleased as they felt the classic style of the car had been homogenised and removed from the kind of cult domain it had been housed in for many years. However, those of us who had admired the MINI from afar enjoyed the way the image had been brought up to date. In addition to this it now housed a far more reliable and powerful BMW motor was also a massive plus.

It seemed that a great number of others shared this opinion and the popularity of the MINI once again soared, as did the prices. For a car of its size, to say the price was slightly steep would be the most grandiose exaggeration in the world. I am not meaning to imply that you don’t get value for money, but when you’re paying over £10,000 you want something a little…bigger, perhaps. Nevertheless, the units kept driving off the forecourts and continue to sell in great numbers despite the terrible economic climate we find ourselves in.

I, however, discovered a way to save money and still end up with a wonderfully attractive MINI. The trick is to buy a Used MINI. Now we all know that the depreciation of these vehicles is incredibly biased toward the seller as they can charge relatively high prices and still guarantee a sale due to the vehicles popularity, but there are still bargains to be had.

Just last weekend I spotted a Used MINI advertised for £7,000 and only had 30,000 miles on the clock. For the kind of quality you are getting, this looked slightly too good to be true. I decided to check the car out for myself and sure enough there were a few bumps and scratches and the tyres needed replacing, but all in all it looked like a very fair price, for a very good car indeed.

In the current supermini market, so many companies are peddling out the same homogenised ideas and designs that it is getting hard to find a truly individual car. An example of this would be the Ford Ka, Citroen C1 and the Toyota iQ all sharing the same building platform. I am therefore very glad that a car with the Used MINI take on individuality still exists when car manufacturers are increasingly herding each other into the same pit of identikit car shapes and styles.

If you are interested in finding a car that continues to buck the trends set by the majority of car manufacturers then you should check out a Used MINI.
