One of the things that people can’t live without is a car.  If you think about it most people would be lost without it.It is definitely a necessity nowadays.But it is an expensive thing to buy as well.  Not just in the price you pay for the car.But also in the expenses that one will incur on repairs and maintenance.  And if you truly want to get the most out of your car you need to keep it maintained.And now I present some tips on how to keep your car in good shape.

First thing you need to do is change the oil regularly. Sounds simple but it is so vital.  I try to remind the customers of my San Diego auto repair shop how important it is. As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.Because when you have decided to buy that used car, you do not want to purchase a lemon.So by taking the time to perform a good inspection, you may avoid costly repairs.

So when inspecting these used cars here are a couple of big things to look for.First thing you have to check is the brakes.  We do San Diego brakes in our shop.  So I know first hand that brake repairs can become expensive.If you buy an auto that the owners didn’t take care of the brakes, that could lead to very expensive repairs.The last thing you want to have to pay for is an entire braking system.So be sure you have good brakes.

When you do perform a brake fluid check, all you have to do is find the fluid reservoir level.It is more often than not marked with a 'min' line and a 'max line'.Make sure that the fluids are not below the 'min' line and you will not have any problems.

Also be sure that you see that the brake fluid is yellow in color and clear.If it isn't, you will have to perform a flushing of the brakes and put in new fluid.

Brake fluids maintenance are the easy part.  The more difficult part will be the brake pads.  For this, more often than not you will need a brakes repair company like my San Diego brake shop. 

Most of the times your brake pads will let you know that they need to be replaced by making that loud screeching sound during braking.

If so, have them checked and replaced as soon as possible. Brake pads are difficult to control or stop if it is worn.

With your safety and any passengers safety on the line, this is a no brainer. Get it checked and if you have to, go and get your brakes fixed.
