Should New Drivers Really Have New Cars?
With the current price in new cars falling to their lowest level in a long time, more and more young first time drivers are jumping at the opportunity to grab a brand new vehicle. What more could a 17 year old possibly ask for, other then passing your driving test and getting a job. You are having the greatest time of your life and by getting yourself a brand new vehicle; you can also show off to your friends and have the freedom to go wherever you want to.
But should it really be allowed for people that have first passed there test to have such a new car. I personally believe that there should be a 5 year cap on new drivers, meaning that they should only be allowed a car that is five years old or over. The reason for stating this is because of one of two reasons.
Firstly you have to think about the insurance costs, companies tend to charge a huge amount if you happen to be a new driver and have a new car. So however much your car ends up costing you, you should remember that you will probably end up paying double for insurance.
The next factor is that you are 99% likely to bump a car in the first year of driving. Now I am not saying you cannot drive, but its not just about driving, you have to have the experience to control a vehicle. I mean in my first year of hitting the roads I must of bumped my car several times.
Now you tell me is it really worth buying a new vehicle and handing over a huge sum for insurance when you are just going to end up writing the vehicle off within 12 months or so?

Driving a car is not something that takes a lot of brains, and its something that everyone can achieve. But after travelling around for some time I do now believe that the UK may have some of the best drivers in the world. The reason I say this is because it has become a lot harder to actually get a licence in the UK. The theory tests have become a lot harder and the practical test is now more difficult then ever.
But it's not just about the way you learn to drive. In the UK we have rules on the road that must be obeyed otherwise you could face a hefty penalty and points on your licence. On my travels I came across places that drive terribly.
For example I went into a taxi to bring me to the hotel and the taxi drives so close to the back of other cars that it was a very scary experience; if anyone of the cars in front had to press the brakes then we would have been in terrible trouble. Aswell as this its also like people cannot drive in a straight line, they go to the left and then to the right and even drive on the hard shoulder.
Although there are a lot of new cars in other countries, again what I do not see is any road tax or MOT certificates, it’s like any type of vehicle can be driven on the roads even if they are potentially very dangerous.
So as a conclusion I do actually believe that the UK does in fact have some of the best drivers around, not because of their talent but simply because of the countries rules and regulations.
