Porsche has to keep the line up rolling of they are releasing this 911 GT3. This car has been long awaited by Porsche fans and was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Only in October 2009 will this car be available for sale. For now the photos and test results are enough.

Plenty of Changes

The GT3 is not an entirely new model, rather it`s a revamped version of a previous Porsche 911. The original did enough to impress the folk at CAR magazine in 2007 to be named the best ever Porsche.

A number of things have been changed, including a 20 bhp increase over the previous model. The body has been adjusted for better aerodynamics, air outlets were added to the front end and the rear wing is more adjustable than before. Other improvements include a lighter wire harness for easier maneuverability and a redesigned rear end. This luxury, though light weight model also comes with optional air conditioning, setting it apart from the standard race car. The new version is far easier to handle and has better traction, as well.

Under the Hood

The Porsche 911 GT3 is powered by a 3.8 liter engine that produces a respectable 435 horses. The car goes from 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds and can hit 100 mph in double that time. Other Features

For street driving, the manufacturers added a few handy features to the latest version of the GT3. For example, it only takes the push of a button to activate a hydraulic lift that gives the vehicle an additional few inches of clearance. This prevents scraping the very low front splitter on steep inclines. The fully adjustable suspension system lets you change Porche`s Active Suspension Management system, which tends to be too soft for street driving. The feature is deactivated in two stages, first the stability is turned off, with traction still on, then you can also turn off the traction. While this gives the vehicle a bit of a boost in speed, it does reduce drivability at high speeds. To help with that, the brakes on this version of the GT3 are larger than ever, with 15.0-in. front and 13.8-in. rear.

Not strictly a new car but still anticipated. With so many improvements, it`s bound to be a popular model.

There aren’t many cars out there that are worth more than a quarter of a million dollars, but if one were to judge based on appearances alone, then the 2009 Aston Martin DBS would most certainly be one of them.The car is as elegant as James Bond would like to have it. 

The 2009 DBS better be pretty though, because it will set prospective buyers back between two hundred and seventy and three hundred thousand dollars, but just as with any Aston Martin, there is more to this car than just a pretty face… 

Beneath the hood of this beautiful specimen sits one powerhouse of an engine – a 5.9 liter V12, churning a whooping 510hp to move the car just past the 190mph top speed.Acceleration for the DBS is an elegant 4.3 seconds. 

The DBS’s initial launch into the automotive world was just eighteen short months ago, its beauty and performance took the driving world by storm then and Aston Martin hasn’t changed a whole lot since the original – they didn’t have to. 

New for the second incarnation are the diamond turned wheels which, aside from being absolutely stunning, manage to take an impressive four and a half pounds of weight off per wheel – that coupled with a portion of the body being made from carbon make this version almost two hundred pounds lighter than the DB9 which it is partially patterned after. 

The 2009 version also has an option for two rear bucket seats where the original just had a modest amount of storage behind the front seats. This at least helps to give the impression that Aston Martin also had the family man in mind when slightly retooling this incredible piece of machinery, though I don’t know a whole lot of people with two children, aside from professional athletes and movie/television stars who could afford to plunk down three hundred thousand for an everyday travel vehicle. 

For drivers, like myself, who would rather be immersed in their favorite music than hearing the roar of the massive 510 horsepower V12 engine rumbling beneath the hood, the 2009 DBS comes with an absolutely out of this world sound system – a ten speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system that is truly capable of making ears bleed should you have the desire. 

The 2009 DBS still uses the space age form of entry that every one fell in love with from the original – the ECU or “Emotion Control Unit” in lieu of using the more traditional keyed form or automobile entry. 

If you have more than a quarter of a million dollars to spend on your next vehicle and are still having doubts about the Aston Martin DBS, ask yourself this – if it was good enough for James Bond to use (and destroy) not once, but twice how could it not be good enough for you.
