With the world’s energy crisis gas prices sure are ridiculous these days. How are we even supposed to keep up with the constant fluctuation? Gas companies are basically bleeding us dry for one simple reason; they can. Whether we all like it or not, we must purchase gas to get back and forth to work daily, and not to mention all the other errands we can’t avoid. While there’s no way to force the local gas station to charge less, we can do other things to save money. We basically want to increase gas mileage. However, many people do not know how to do this.

Back when I learned how to drive, my father always preached to me about how to increase gas mileage. I have to admit, some of these things were rather simple. It might shock you at how much more gas you burn on short trips around town than you do when you drive further away on the freeway. When using a gas rebate card you need to be aware and understand the terms and conditions as well as the length of the introductory offer. Many times the introductory offer is fantastic but then decreases quickly. Other times the rebates may expire if you do not request them within a specific time period.

The Discover Open Road gas rebate card is very popular and ranked number one by many. It offers many rebates on auto purchases, included auto maintenance purchases. Blue Cash from American express also offers a 5% rebate at any gas station and this card is great for those that travel extensively by car.

Other gas rebate cards will give you reward point every time you purchase gas. Wal-mart has a gas rebate card that offers savings when you purchase gas form any Wal-mart or Sam’s club gas station. Citibank offers many gas rebate cards and many of them are for very specific stations. Such as the Shell MasterCard.

Many cards will offer a 1% or 2% rebate on gas purchases. How you receive the rebate will depend on the card. Some card will subtratc the rebate directly from yourcredit card statement while others will send youa check. Chase’s Cash Plus Visa will provide you with a check every time you get $50 worth of rebates, though you will have to request the check.

There are many other gas rebate cards available and you will need to determine which suits your needs the best. All major gas chains will offer gas rebate cards and you can also get gas rebate cards form the major banks and financial institutions.
