Peugeot Announce New People Carrier

After the success that Peugeot had with their 7 seater estate car, they have now created a brand new 7 seater people carrier. The new 5008 completes their car line-up and they hope it will be able to take on their rival people carriers, the Vauxhall Zafira and Renault Scenic.

This new people carrier from the French manufacturer has a sleek design and the features have been designed with family in mind.

The car has been designed with a range of features to suit every families lifestyle, one being the ability to flatten all of the second row seats individually to give you some extra room. Another option is to flatten the entire back row of seats to you a massive 2,506 litres of storage space.

This car really has been designed for storage, aswell as a huge boot space, there are a series of under floor boxes, plus a huge 10.5 litre cool box in the centre console.

Peugeot are offering a wide range of engines for the new people carrier. Peugeot offer one of 2 different 1.6 litre petrol engines, managing either 156bhp or 120bhp. You can also get one of 3 diesel engines, a 1.6 litre 110bhp or you can get one of two 2 litre engines that carry 150bhp or 163bhp.

The new 5008 is being showed off in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new car is expected to be released eaerly 2010 at a price of around £15,000. If you are turned off by the price, buying your own one isn’t the only option that will be available on the release.

Leasing a car is normally forgotten by the consumer when it comes to buying a car, even though you can save a lot of money by leasing. There are a huge number of companies that offer every make from Citroen leasing to Peugeot leasing, all of which can generally work out cheaper than buying your own car which will simply lose value over years.

The Peugeot 107: Looking Cool In The City

There are many options available to people who primarily drive in urban environments. Town and city driving has become a cornerstone of any manufacturers business and they have rightly responded by releasing quality vehicles that have been designed with the express purpose of taming the often challenging driving conditions of the city.

Peugeot have received many plaudits for the new 107 which has been a popular and critically lauded model ever since it was released in this country. The modern and funky body design means that in any social situation, the Peugeot 107 is unlikely to let you down or make you a laughing stock in front of your friends.

The little Peugeot is also riding the zeitgeist of economically and ecologically sound motoring, providing its owner with high miles per gallon ratios and exceedingly impressive CO2 emissions. As far as the green set is concerned, the Peugeot 107 is a paean of the direction the automotive industry should be moving in.

So how does the little Peugeot perform? In simple terms, for its size, cost and performance; it is very difficult to imagine why you wouild want a different car.

As it has been designed for the confines of the city, the Peugeot is truly at its best at low to mid revs, as this is where it is going to do the majority of its work. Putting your foot down on the sliproad out on to the motorway will result in some audible complaining from the 1.0 Litre engine, and the 0-60 time of around 14 seconds isn’t going to win any drag-races, but for city driving its perfect.

I always thought that a city car’s priority should be that it is fun to drive, because driving in the city is the exact opposite of that.It should put that smile on your face when all around you is the doom and gloom of the rat race. With its nippy engine, cool looks and wallet-friendly costs, the little Peugeot 107 does exactly that.

How far can you go when the gauge shows red?

Has this ever happened to you?

There you are driving along and you look down at the petrol gauge. Oops the fuel gauge says it is dangerously close to empty!

Now I really want to get to work before I am late and all the garages seem to have queues a mile long (well almost!) so I decide to carry on and get some petrol later on in the day.

Needless to say I did not remember and so it goes on. With every mile I am pushing my luck and promising myself that I will fill up at the next petrol station. At a guess I reckon I have travelled approximately another 15 miles or so until I have topped the tank up.

I have a Toyota RAV4 and in my user guide it says “when the petrol light comes on you should fill up soon.” Well “soon” means different things to different people. Can anyone tell me how many more miles they have managed to drive when the petrol light shows red? My husband drives a peugeot and his manual says “when the petrol light comes on you can go approximately 30 more miles.”

I suppose I could experiment and top up the petrol can that I keep for emergencies (usually empty I may add) and fill it up and drive in a quiet area until the petrol light comes on. Set the milometer and drive until the tank is on empty. Then I would know how far I can travel before I run out completely. Well thats an idea, but probably not too good for the engine.

I suppose the sensible thing to do would be to go the other way and never allow the tank to fall below three quarters empty because at the end of the day it really is so much hassle having to panic at the last minute and find somewhere to fill up!

I would love to hear how many miles you have managed to get after the red light has appeared!

Fuel consumption and your new car

In todays current climate we all have to consider cutting down on luxuries etc, one fairly large part of our monthly budgets goes towards the cost of fuel we put in our cars.  This makes it so important to have a car that gets you the most mileage for your money.Fuel efficient cars being the future of tomorrow we have many more options than we did even five years ago.  There are several types of fuel efficient cars you might want to consider two in particular are the Citroen and Peugeot. Both these cars are available in the UK and there are several great deals around.

A lot of fuel efficient cars are run on diesel.A diesel car tends to be more economical on fuel consumption per mile.Several diesel engines offer an average of 30 miles or more to the gallon. That is significant especially with a 13 gallon tank.400 miles can be achieved from one tank of fuel.

A Volkswagen beetle or the Jetta are also really fuel efficient cars.A VW beetle can achieve about 27 miles per gallon. That is quite a lot when you consider trucks and other vehicles weigh in at 20 to 25 miles per gallon.

However the most fuel efficient car is going to be the hybrid.A hybrid uses solar power to propel the vehicle. The engine will use the solar power and keep recycling the power for as long as the sun is showing.  The fuel in these cars is for powering the engines solar power system as well as for driving when the solar power has finished.Electric motors are the same. You have fuel just in case you run out of electricity to convert to power. In some of these vehicles you can go more than 30 miles, sometimes even over 100 miles without using more than a couple of gallons of petrol.  This equates to hours of driving without needing to top up with fuel.

The prices of the fuel efficient cars are decreasing. They are definately becoming more affordable. The Prius is one of the most sought after hybrids. The mileage and comfort of this car is amazing. When looking for a new car then fuel efficiency must surely be a large consideration!
