The New And Improved Saturn SC2

Saturn SC2 is the short name from the sports coupe level of the first division of the Saturn auto produced at the beginning of the 90s. The launching of the S Series by General Motors was a smart plan to lower the impact of the Japanese imports on the American market. With the success reputed by Saturn SC2, Japan and Taiwan actually began imports of these vehicles on their markets, which only proves that the reputation GM got for the Saturn S Series was not void of content. In the years following the release, no improvements have been made to Saturn SC2, upgrades appeared as late as 1999.

Saturn SC2 got a little lateral door often called the suicide door on the side of the driver. For the coupe design, this additional feature was a big change as it was a welcome innovation in the production of sports cars. This kind of door had only been used in the manufacturing of extended cab pickup trucks before. Saturn SC2 was produced with little modifications afterwards until 2003 when General Motors replaced the S Series and launched their new sports car, Saturn Ion. The production of this latter model also came to a halt in 2007 as well when GM chose a new market approach.

In its category, Saturn SC2 represented the most fuel-efficient vehicle with a manual transmission. One gallon of gas was enough for forty miles according to the ratings and the data in the Saturn SC2 car highway tests. This initial engine was rated at only 124 horsepower, but in 1995 improvements became necessary to the initial SC model: thus, the producer added a lower front bumper and a trunk lid reflector, not to mention that the interior was also redesigned. It was the second generation of Saturn SC2 that saw changes in exterior concept that now focused on rather curve lines.

According to reviews Saturn SC2 brought little difference from SC1, the latter only received black outside mirrors while the SC2 variant remained with colored ones. Other features of the Saturn SC2 included a traction control system, an antibreak lock and standard fog lamps. Then, in terms of manual transmission, Saturn SC2 and SC1 were identical, and the same similarity remained in the dashboard look, in the wheelbase structure and in the dayltime lights. Improvements were tributary to the Saturn sedan and station wagon designs.

So whether you doing car rental comparisons or you are in the market for a new car purchase, you cant go wrong with the Saturn Sc2.

The Top Rated Saturn Aura

The model to have outsold Saturn Vue SUV is Saturn Aura, a mid-sized vehicle manufactured under the General Motors brand. The popularity of the concept became apparent in 2006 when it was made public at the New York Auto Show, and though it was meant as a replacement for the Saturn L-series, Saturn Aura brings a breath of fresh air to the entire Saturn collection. The result of this reorientation is market preference for American autos instead of European imports particularly since recently the the success belonged to the latter. Saturn Aura thus competes with its distant cousin: the European Opel Vectra.

The standard Saturn Aura has folding mirrors and side marker lights, and such specificities are tributary to European cars that served as a source of inspiration. The other aesthetic details make Saturn Aura a really pleasant car with 17 or 18 inch wheels and tires for all seasons in both the XR or XE models. The improvements in car appearance are relevant for the structure of the cabin too; now Saturn Aura allows the buyer a choice for saddle leather seats and back seat radio control. Yet, despite the real advantages in the standard model, Saturn Aura has been bad-mouthed for the quality of the materials used in the interior.

As for the technical characteristics of the Saturn Aura standard models, there is an assisted break system for all the four wheel disk brakes, heated seats and comprehensive front and lateral airbags, automatic steering control and stability control as well as remote vehicle start. Saturn Aura also spoils its users with 224 horsepower for a 3.5 liter V6 engine. The distinction between Saturn Aura XR and XE becomes noticeable in the properties of the suspension system: thus Saturn Aura XE has soft suspensions while Aura XR has more rigid sportier ones. Moreover, this concept gap is further reflected in the price of the car with the soft variant coming cheaper.

Just like the Saturn Vue Hybrid the Saturn Aura is also available in the hybrid eco form following the green line specificity. It relies on a belt alternation system and it includes the same system of suspension as the gas-only XE models. This hybrid variety offers 164 horsepower and the advantage of an important improvement in terms of fuel consume. In order to encourage the purchase of ecological cars so as to save or preserve the environment, governmental laws regulate a $1,300 tax credit drop. Consequently after you purchase the Saturn Aura hybrid you’ll save the above mentioned sum that you’d otherwise pay for taxes.

So whether you doing car rental comparisons or you are in the market for a new car purchase, you cant go wrong with the Saturn Aura.

The Saturn Aura

The model to have outsold Saturn Vue SUV is Saturn Aura, a mid-sized vehicle manufactured under the General Motors brand. The new Saturn concept was presented in the 2006 New York Auto Show, and it capatured the public attention right from the beginning even if GM only intended it as the line to replace the L Series. The outcome of this new direction is market preference for American cars instead of European imports particularly since recently the focus has fallen on the latter in the United States. Saturn Aura thus rivals with its distant cousin: the European Opel Vectra.

The standard Saturn Aura has folding mirrors and side marker lights, and these design features are clearly an imitation of European car design. The other aesthetic details make Saturn Aura a really pleasant car with 17 or 18 inch wheels and all season tires according to the XR or XE models. The changes in decoration style are obvious in the design of the interior too, Saturn Aura provides the possibility to choose the saddle leather and back seat radio control. Yet, despite the real advantages in the standard model, Saturn Aura has been bad-mouthed for the quality of the materials used in the cabin design.

The technical features include an ABS system for all the four wheels, heated seats and both lateral and frontal airbags, with all these elements present on the standard models. Saturn Aura also provides 224 horsepower for a 3.5 liter V6 engine. The difference between Saturn Aura XR and XE is obvious with the properties of the suspension system: thus Saturn Aura XE has soft suspensions while Aura XR has more rigid sportier ones. Moreover, this concept gap is further reflected in the price of the car with the soft variant coming cheaper.

Saturn Aura is also available in the hybrid environment friendly form following the green line specificity. It uses a belt alternation system and it includes the same system of suspension as the gas-fueled XE models. This hybrid design brings 164 horsepower and a significant fuel consume reduction. In order to encourage the purchase of ecological cars so as to save or preserve the environment, governmental laws regulate a $1,300 tax credit drop. This means that after you purchase the Saturn Aura hybrid you’ll save the above mentioned sum that you’d otherwise pay for taxes.

The Striking Saturn Ion

Launched in 2003, Saturn Ion is one of the many car models manufactured by General Motors; it came as a replacement for the Saturn S Series, the first line of production since the beginnings of the division. According to statistics, Saturn Ion pleased customers more than any other compact car available on the American market, and this is the reason why it was sold for such a long time, till 2007 when it was replaced by Saturn Astra. This car included the famous General Motors Delta platform and it had a standard DOHC Ecotec I4 engine that produced 140 horsepower.

The position of the instrument panel was pretty striking in the interior design of Saturn Ion, thus instead of being located behind the steering wheel as it happens for most other car concepts, it occupied a frontal position in the center of the dashboard. The coupe and the sedan made the only two variants of Saturn Ion ever produced. The novelty this car brought was explainable by the gearbox that allowed room for five forward gears modified to fit to the regular manual gearbox. The fuel consume was positively influenced by such a gearbox structure with the potential to improve acceleration too. Moreover, with Saturn Ion, heat was no longer a problem for the planetary gear set.

An upgraded Saturn Ion variant appeared in 2004 as part of the Red Line designed by General Motors. The model was planned as a sportier car with a more powerful engine of 205 horsepower, a stiffer suspension and re-valved shock absorbers; the model relied on a 2.0 liter Ecotec engine known as the LSJ. In the same year, General Motors also launched a limited edition of Saturn Ion 3 that had all sorts of additional improvements in terms of interior and exterior design. Even if it were more expensive the cosmetic look was surely different. Only three color options were available: black onyx, chili pepper red and electric blue.

Until 2007, several additional changes were made in terms of Saturn Ion engine power and cabin decorations. Some of the varieties were also discontinued because of various technical issues that made their reliability questionable: this was the case with the Aisin model. The bad publicity was generated from all sorts of materials published by disatisfied customers. A re-modeling of the Saturn Ion had been announced for 2008, and the world wide web was full of pictures for the new model. And then Saturn Aura emerged.

The Saturn SC2

Also known as the GM sports coupe, Saturn SC2 is one of the first models produced in this line in the early and mid 90s. The introduction of the S Series by General Motors worked a smart plan to lower the impact of the Japanese cars on the American market. After Saturn SC2 became a market hit, Japan and Taiwan actually started selling these vehicles on their internal markets, which only proves that the reputation GM got for the Saturn S Series was not void of content. In the years following the release, no improvements have been made to Saturn SC2, upgrades appeared as late as 1999.

A suicide door was added on the lateral back of the Saturn SC2 model on the driver’s part. This kind of door had only been used in the manufacturing of extended cab pickup trucks before. Saturn SC2 was produced with little modifications afterwards until 2003 when General Motors replaced the S Series and launched their new sports car, Saturn Ion. The production of this latter model also ceased in 2007 as well when GM tried a different market approach.

In its category, Saturn SC2 represented the most fuel-efficient vehicle with a manual transmission. At the time when it was launched, the engine of Saturn SC2 required one gallon of fuel for forty miles according to the highway tests performed for the car. This initial engine was rated at only 124 horsepower, but in 1995 improvements were made to the first SC model: thus, the producer incorporated a lid reflector in the trunk and further added a lower front bumper; yet the cabin decorations were not neglected either. Exterior design changes appeared with a second generation of SC2, which got more daring curve lines.

Saturn SC2 came with standard fog lamps, anti-break lock was optional and it also had some kind of traction control. Then, as for the manual transmission, there were no changes between Saturn SC2 and SC1, and the same similarity remained in the dashboard look, in the wheelbase structure and in the dayltime lights.
