These days it can be hard to find a car that offers you a comfortable, luxury ride as well as reliability all at an affordable price. The problem is it is just that cheap, the pedal needs to be held to the floor to stay with the flow of traffic, the automatic transmission never shifts correctly giving you a jerky ride and the interior falls apart in the heat. The safety record should be the most concerning rating 2 out of 5 stars in driver to driver collision. Making it the lowest rated car of the three sub compact cars reviewed here. It is not all bad though the 2.0L 138hp engine comes very highly rated getting high marks for reliability, ease of maintenance and overall performance.

When purchasing any of these three cars keep in mind that car dealerships all over the world are willing to make huge concessions to sell you a car and recommend an automotive repair manual. Your goal price should be as close to base invoice price as possible. The 1st generation of Firebirds was available from 1967 till 1969 and was assembled in Pontiac facilities in Van Nuys, California and Norwood, Ohio.  It was available in 2-door coupes and convertibles.  In 1969, a Trans-Am package for the Firebird was introduced, which only furthered the admiration for the ar.  A Trans-Am package featured upgraded suspension, handling, and h.p..  Aesthetic differences with the Trans-Am package include mist lights, wheels, hoods, and spoilers.  The second generation of Firebirds and Trans-Ams from 1970 to 1981 was in charge of cementing the brand in Yank pop culture.  The 2-door convertible was dropped.  The second generation car was seen in the films Smokey and the Bandit, Hooper and Smokey and the Bandit II.  The 3rd generation, which was available from 1982 till 1992, was featured in the movies Alphabet City and Smokey and the Bandit Part three.  The TV show Knight Rider featured a speaking auto, KITT, which was basically an altered Trans-am of the third generation.  Unfortunately, declining sales made General Motors can the brand, with the Pontiac GTO replacing it.

Eastern car manufacturer Nissan introduced a compact auto called the 240SX to the north american market in 1988.  This automobile was made to substitute the S12 model, which was going to be canned.  All versions of the 240SX that were available until the last were rolled off in 1998 had inline four engines with 2.4 liter capacity.  Of the 10 years that this two-door compact was made, two generations were distinguished – the S13, provided for the 1989 to 1994 model years and the S14, from 1995 to 1998.  The latter generation was based mostly on the S platform of Nissan, which was also the base for other Nissan vehicles like the Silvis and 180SX ( for the japanese market ) and the 200Sx ( for the european market ).  All 240SX autos were manufactured in the Kyushu, Japan plant of Nissan. 

The first generation of the 240SX had 2 different variants : the Zenki and Chuki.  These variants came in hot hatch and coupe body styles.  The hatch was offered in base, SE and LE trims, while the coupe came in base, SE and XE trims.  The body was styled with a front that is sloping and headlights that retract.  This set the 240SX aside from the Silvia, which had fixed headlights.  As for the two variants, the Zenki ( which means’early period’ ) was sold for the 1989 and 1990 model years.  The Chuki ( which literally means’middle period’ ) was available from 1991 to 1994 and was updated apropos the exterior and engine upgrades.  A convertible body style of the 240SX was introduced to the north american market.  This was the only available model available in 1994, which was provided with a 4 speed automatic transmission. 

A total redesigning of the first generation resulted to the second generation of the 240SX.  Only the coupe body style stayed, as the convertible and hatchback styles were retired in 1995.  This generation was also split into the Zenki and Kouki ( meaning’latter period’ ).  The Kouki period saw the 240SX having sharper features like the hood, projector headlights, front bumper and fenders.  The last of this model was made in July of 1998.

Honda’s latest generation of preface, the fifth generation Honda Prelude, is a masterwork on wheels.  The preface was first introduced in 1979, which was Honda’s first attempt to design a trustworthy and exciting sports car.  After two great decades, the two-door sport coupe still enjoys wide renown and attention among the Honda lineup.  Built on robust handling, drivability, and regularly equipped with the strongest engines, it is hard not to take a second look at this car.
